Big Sir Sezs....

Many of my plants are now blooming, must be summer soon.  Nothing gives me more pleasure, trees blooming and plants coming to life with glorious colors.  Thanks to all of this I made it through 2 weeks of a flu bug.  I should have told my doctor that I had been sick but did not want to postpone surgery for my enlarged prostate.  All went well on all fronts.

I understand our luncheon was very close to 11:45pm.  Now we should be back on time.

Last month I reported no new applicants.  They came in after I had written Big Sir sez.

It is important that we invite our friends to our monthly meetings.  We wish to continue our growth so pass out at least one card each month.  I have, have you?.  Remember that all new members have a smiley face on their badges for two months.  Introduce your self to welcome these new friends and yes, smile.

John Mendonca gave a presentation on the SIR Annual SF Giants game.  We had 25 people signed up, but we were too late to purchase tickets.  Next time we will be collecting ticket money as SIR buys “x” amount of seats early each year.  When the call comes out 2014, a ticket price will be quoted and collected so you can experience an outing with SIR.  .Leader is Neal Welsh, phone 209-327-2068.  Neal and I will have our money ready.

New Committees:

1.

Fishing lake, stream and ocean, we are getting ready.  Chair Persons: Lee Bias 329-1323 & Phil Loechner 601-8943

2.

Dinner with Al @ SYC May 22, @ 6;15 am.  Make your reservations early, come as often as you like.  Doris Melhalf and Lida Meuller will be attending as my guest.

3.

Visiting those unable to attend, widows and funerals. Lida Mueller, 368-4480, found Ray,s  records as the Historian. Richard Baines, Neal, Welsh, Chuck Bennett and Al Furr had a great visit.  Her yard is filled with many unique flowers.  We got the grand tour.  Lida just leased a new car, fits her well.

4. Doris Melhalf (951-2743) would like to hear from some of Ray’s friends.  I had a chance to talk with Doris and she will be my guest at the dinner with Al, May 22 SYC. Now you have another reason to have Dinner with Al and Lila Mueller.
5.

Need transportation to and from SIR meetings call Al Furr, cell: 479-3124.

6. Ideas, something you would like to discuss or suggestions.  Call: Al Furr 209-479-3124. some meet informally for lunch.  Call Al to arrange a time and place to join us.

We need to strive for 70% at our meetings.  Please attend if possible.

(Continued at top of right column)

Need a 2013 roster.  SIR Elmer Nichols has the roster to make corrections.  Elmer certainly has put his all into this project.  Roster will be available on the bar during our meetings.  Al Furr keeps the roster at his home and will deliver one to your home upon request.

June 11 Picnic @ Mickey Grove Park:  The cooking team of Bob Gobbet and Phil Schrock has decided on Ribs and chicken this year.  Take advantage of our Master Chefs / Organizers. They do better every year. Little SIR, Chuck Bennett (209-333-8448) will be selling tickets, $13.00 single or $25.00 for two.  Tickets will be available at our May 14 meeting.  We had a slow start selling tickets in April.  SIR, yes, all need to buy a ticket or two and sign up to help with the set up and clean up.  This is the first function of 2013 honoring the wives.  A great afternoon to socialize.
